Welcome to Pickle Pal ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you understand how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and password.
• Profile Information: You may optionally provide a profile picture and your DUPR rating.
• Group & Event Data: Information about groups you create or join, events you organize or attend, and messages you send.
• Match Data: Scores and results from pickleball matches you record.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Location Data: With your permission, we collect your location to show nearby courts.
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and unique identifiers.
• Usage Data: How you interact with the App, including features used and actions taken.

1.3 Payment Information

When you subscribe to Pickle Pal Pro, payment is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not store your payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App
• Create and manage your account
• Enable groups, events, and communication
• Show nearby pickleball courts
• Process subscriptions and premium features
• Send push notifications (with consent)
• Display personalized ads (free tier)
• Analyze usage to improve the App
• Diagnose technical issues and monitor App stability
• Provide customer support

3. How We Share Your Information

• With Other Users: Your display name, profile picture, and DUPR rating may be visible to other users in your groups. You can control visibility in your privacy settings.
• Service Providers: Third-party services that help operate the App (see Section 4).
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights.
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Third-Party Services

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, cloud storage, analytics, and push notifications.
• RevenueCat: Subscription management.
• Google AdMob: Advertisements (free tier only).
• Sentry: Error tracking and crash reporting (email addresses are stripped before transmission).
• Expo: Push notification delivery.

These services have their own privacy policies governing data they collect.

5. Advertising

Free tier users see ads powered by Google AdMob. You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings. Pickle Pal Pro subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where legally required to retain it.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Access: View your profile information in the App.
• Update: Update your profile at any time.
• Delete: Delete your account (Profile > Privacy & Security > Delete Account).
• Location: Disable location access in device settings.
• Notifications: Manage in App and device settings.
• Privacy Settings: Control profile visibility, DUPR rating display, and match history visibility in the App.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, hashed passwords, and database access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Children's Privacy

Pickle Pal is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will promptly delete such information.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of personal information, opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.

12. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

EEA residents have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, withdraw consent, and lodge complaints with supervisory authorities.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
