Terms of Service

Welcome to Pickle Pal! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Pickle Pal mobile application ("App"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Please read these Terms carefully before using the App. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the App, you confirm that:

• You are at least 13 years of age
• You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
• You agree to comply with these Terms and all applicable laws

2. Description of Service

Pickle Pal helps pickleball players:

• Find and save pickleball courts
• Create and join groups with other players
• Organize and manage pickleball events
• Track matches and record scores
• Communicate through group chat
• Participate in leagues with standings

3. Account Registration

3.1 Account Creation

To use certain features, you must create an account with a valid email address, password, and display name.

3.2 Account Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of your credentials
• You are responsible for all account activities
• Notify us of any unauthorized use
• Keep your information accurate

3.3 Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time (Profile > Privacy & Security > Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

4.1 Free and Premium Tiers

• Free Tier: Core features with ads and a 2 group limit
• Pickle Pal Pro: Ad-free experience with unlimited groups, recurring events, and league creation

4.2 Subscription Plans

• Monthly: $1.99/month
• Yearly: $8.99/year

4.3 Billing and Renewal

• Payment will be charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
• You can manage and cancel your subscriptions in your device's account settings after purchase

4.4 Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies.

5. User Content

5.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you create (profile pictures, messages, event info, match data).

5.2 License to Us

By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use it for operating the App.

5.3 Prohibited Content

Do not post content that is:

• Illegal, harmful, threatening, or harassing
• Defamatory, vulgar, or obscene
• Infringing on intellectual property rights
• Spam or unauthorized advertising
• Impersonating another person

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for unlawful purposes
• Harass, bully, or intimidate other users
• Attempt unauthorized access
• Interfere with the App or servers
• Use bots or automated means
• Reverse engineer the App

7. Groups and Events

Group administrators are responsible for moderating content and ensuring compliance with these Terms. When attending events, you are responsible for your own safety. We are not liable for incidents at events.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, features, and trademarks, is owned by Pickle Pal and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not use our intellectual property without consent.

9. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We do not guarantee:

• Accuracy of court information
• Conduct or identity of other users
• Safety of events organized through the App
• Accuracy of user-entered DUPR ratings

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the past 12 months, or $100, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Pickle Pal from any claims arising from your use of the App, violation of these Terms, or your content.

12. Modifications

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time. Material changes to these Terms will be communicated through the App. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

13. Termination

We may terminate your access immediately for violation of these Terms, harmful conduct, or legal requirements. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States.

15. Dispute Resolution

Disputes shall be resolved through informal resolution first, then binding arbitration. You waive any right to class actions.
